The story behind 'Cinnamon' in Cinnamon Development.

Updated: Apr 4, 2020

Hello, and welcome to Cinnamon Development! I have to start with the reason I named my company after a common spice, cinnamon and a little of my background. Although it does not really make sense, I thought it would be fun to share some of my past.

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest for the past 20 years. My childhood was spent on an island in the Puget Sound. I was homeschooled with my three younger siblings and in my free time spent my days sword fighting with sticks or walking to the beach and making boats out of driftwood that my friends and I would ride into the quiet waves.

I also spent much of my time being creative and making a mess in the kitchen. For as long as I can remember, I would always gather my siblings for special occasions, such as Mother's Day and make a 'fancy' brunch that always included homemade cinnamon rolls. I would wake up early and make the yeasted dough and read mystery novels while the dough slowly rose and the rest of my family slept. Baking became one of my creative outlets and cinnamon rolls were my go to favorite.

Fast forward, and how Cinnamon Development was incubated. It started in the kitchen and I was asking my dad "synonyms" for development and trying to think of an LLC name for my new venture as a real estate broker. He did not realize what I was saying and thought I was saying, "Cinnamon Development"! The more we both thought of it the more I realized it may be a perfect fit.

My thought process of using 'cinnamon' is first of all it is a spice that has been used for centuries. It is flexible in the way that it can be used for sweet, such as cinnamon rolls, as well as savory in various ethnic foods. It adds depth to food, and creates warmth. I enjoy engaging with people, hearing their story, and hospitably - especially the area of creating and serving a meal together.

I want to start this year as a real estate broker with this in mind. Cinnamon can add both sweet and spice to your life and I am ready to use my creative outlet, and love for the Pacific Northwest, to partner in finding your dream home or investment property, as well as list your property. I enjoy hospitality and believe real estate is a hospitality business. Your home is a place where you spend most of your time as well as gather in community. Thanks for reading, and I hope this provided some background and the foundation of Cinnamon Development.
